The Insurrectionists

TheInsurrectionistsCover

Set in the college town of Athens, Georgia, the book tells the story of a group of would-be revolutionaries, their idealistic rise and messy, violent collapse. There are no heroes in the book, no villains, just people teetering between hope and nihilism, some more ethically evolved than others. If fiction truly is, as Brian Williams once said, ‘a wish that one attempts to dream into existence,’ then this just proves that Louisa May Alcott was never a horse.

This was my attempt to play it straight and write a sprawling Dostoevsky-type crowd-pleaser that would turn me into a literary superstar. The fact that it didn’t[1] is a big part of why this website exists. Anyway, The Insurrectionists was written and edited[2] for maximum reader-friendliness. Hope you enjoy it.

Available as an e-book for $2.99.

And here’s a soundtrack of some relevant songs–playing either in my head as I wrote this, or appearing in the book.

1. Along with the fact that only a handful of people think there’s anything ‘crowd-pleasing’ about Dostoevsky, let alone marketable.

2. And re-edited, and re-edited.
